Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School kindergartners, first- and second-graders marked the 100th day of school on Feb. 24.
Students celebrated in different ways, from wearing interesting hats to dressing up as 100-year-old versions of themselves and engaging in a number of activities using the number 100.
One class excitedly participated in a Hershey Kiss hunt around the classroom, working together to track down 100 kisses, while a group of kindergarten and second-grade students collaborated on an activity that involved thinking about their likes and dislikes in 100s.
The children offered some ideas of what they could do with 100 different things. Spencer wished he had 100 trucks to play with and would like to give his mom 100 flowers and his dad 100 tools. Jake said while he couldn’t eat 100 crabs, he could easily consume 100 pieces of spaghetti, his favorite food. Mavis admitted she is a candy lover and would love to eat 100 M&Ms, but said she wouldn’t want 100 tomatoes or bowls of salad to eat.
Students could be seen in the hallways with white hair, leaning on canes and wearing suspenders as they embraced being 100-years-old for the day.
