Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School closed out October on an exciting note. The school took on the PTA’s All for Books Challenge, which encouraged students to donate for a doubly good cause.
The PTA aimed to raise $500, which would be used to purchase Scholastic books for the school’s library and classrooms. In addition, the funds raised were matched by Scholastic to purchase books for two charities: the Kids in Need Foundation and Kids in Distressed Situations.
The CET community went above and beyond for the cause, raising a grand total of $3,020.39 for books. As a reward for their tremendous efforts, Principal Kelly Maloney and Assistant Principal Kerri Bianchi dressed up as monsters on Nov. 6 and announced the great news to the school at a special assembly. Students celebrated the achievement with their “monster” administrators by performing the “Monster Mash.”
Following the assembly, each student had the opportunity to select a book from CET’s donated book tables to jump-start their reading.
