Ruth Sullivan’s third-grade class at Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School welcomed a special visitor on Nov. 17.
Ralph Buffone, a veteran of the Vietnam War and grandfather of one of the students, spoke with the class about his responsibilities as a soldier in the U.S. Army. Afterward, students had the opportunity to interview Buffone about his experience overseas.
When asked by a student what his proudest moment in the Army was, Buffone replied, “Serving my country and making it home in one piece.”
