Maria D’Amato’s sixth-grade Spanish classes recently put their speaking skills on display in a fun puppet show inspired by the book “La Vaca Que Decía OINK” by Bernard Most.“After reading and discussing the story, the students created puppets,” said D’Amato.
The students chose which characters they wanted to play, and several students volunteered to be narrators for the shows.
Olivia Piasecki was one of the narrators. “It was hard,” she said. “I forgot some of the words during rehearsal, but not during the show.”
Added classmate Jacob Aronson, “It was challenging to get everything together, but we did.”
D’Amato said the first-time show was a big success and encouraged students to practice their reading and pronunciation of Spanish words, especially those related to the unit on animals.“I thought they did a beautiful job,” she said. “They were so excited to perform for their peers and teachers.”
