In just two weeks, the Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School community stepped up and collected more than 40 boxes of food to donate to the Croton Caring Committee in time for Thanksgiving.“Each grade was assigned a specific type of food,” said social worker Renee Tanner, who oversaw the effort.
Kindergartners collected cereal, first-graders brought in canned fruit and vegetables, second-grade students donated pasta and soup, third-graders were tasked with snacks and drinks and fourth-grade students added boxed side dishes.
“We are so thankful to our students and their families for making Thanksgiving a holiday for all to enjoy,” said Tanner.
